Allana Hansell

Allana took up painting when she moved from London to Sussex in 2006. It was at this time she discovered a passion for painting contemporary landscapes ‘en plein air’.

Since moving to south east Cornwall in 2018, Allana has taken inspiration from her rural surroundings and the rugged coastline, combining sketching and painting with exploring and discovering the county.

“I prefer palette knife to brush, and paint mostly in oils using an impasto, textured approach in my work. I enjoy creating colourful , powerful and evocative images which give the viewer a sense of place, time and season.”

Allana is a member of the Launceston Area Art Group ( whose work features on their Instagram account launceston_area_art_group). She is artist in residence at Stara Community woodland near Rilla Mill, and has had her art featured in Cornwall Today magazine.
